WELCOME!

Encompassing over 7.4 acres of woods and pasture with 825 feet of frontage on a 40-acre lake, Hodgdon Pond Farm is private but accessible. Somesville, the center of Mount Desert Island, is only 4.8 miles away. The inlet and outlet of Hodgdon Pond as well as the entire opposite shore are owned and protected by Acadia National Park. Guests can enjoy swimming, fishing, and canoeing as well as seeing birds and animals including eagles, osprey, kingfisher, loon, beaver, fox, raccoon and deer, and occasionally otter, moose, and bear.

The extraordinary resources of Mount Desert Island await the visitor. Acadia National Park owns over 33,000 acres of land with well-maintained trails and offers regularly scheduled nature walks and trips to outer islands. Boats are available for charter or day trips. Numerous museums, concerts, excellent restaurants, shops and art exhibits provide indoor attractions. We maintain a directory of events and full complement of brochures and maps in each cottage to help you plan your vacation.

The cottages are widely separated from each other. Each has frontage on the lake and its own dock, a rowboat, two kayaks, a paddle board and a canoe.  Each cottage has three bedrooms and two baths, and contains over 1400 square feet of living space.

Cottage 2 is slightly larger than Cottage 1 because there is a dormer in the Master bedroom that gives a view over the pond, and it is on deeper water.  The cottages are fully furnished and each has a washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, radio, television, DVD, and charcoal grill. There is a booster seat, Port-a-crib and child gate in each cottage, and a swing-set and sand box on the property. We supply all linens and will send an inventory of each cottage on request or with the lease.

Rentals are from Saturday at 4:00 PM until the following Saturday at 10:00 AM  in Cottage 1 and from 5:00 PM to 11:00 AM in Cottage 2. We limit occupancy to 7 people per cottage, and charge $200.00 per person extra for groups over 6. We do not accept pets or smoking in the cottages or on the property.   There is a $125.00 cleaning and laundry fee, and we ask that you leave the cottage ready for cleaning. The rental rate does not include the 09% state tax on  rent and fees.

We hope you will want to stay at Hodgdon Pond Farm and look forward to hearing from you.
